Essentially an Outline for Future Blog Content

A primary goal of mine is to connect families with resources regarding behavior, development, and parenting. One of those resources is me myself. Here is what I know.

  • Childhood matters. Intrinsically and as a foundation for the future.

  • Parenting matters. It is undervalued and under-supported by society at large, in specific ways with specific fallout in fields such as medicine, education, social services, etc etc.

  • Families thrive when they function with mutual respect and when the members are building skills and strategies that bolster that families’ unique quirky values.

    • Kids thrive when those skills and strategies build social emotional competence and resilience.

  • Good enough parenting exists. It is both necessary and sufficient for kids to thrive.

    • Many, many families are in survival mode.

    • Other families strive for perfection.

    • Helping families move from surviving or striving to thriving is my love language.

  • Kids’ behaviors reflect specific needs and are maintained by specific gains

    • if you identify needs or gains or both, you can then meet the need and/or adjust the gains. This shifts behavior.

  • It is supposed to take a village.

  • I’d love to be a part of your village. I would live on the outskirts of town in a home surrounded by flowers with delicious baking smells wafting out. Like a witch, but actually nice and helpful. So basically Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, but without the 1950s social constructs.

This blog is dedicated to fleshing out each of these bullet and sub-bullet points with my thoughts and experiences, summaries of the science, round ups of resources, conclaves of connection, and anything else I deem helpful and alliterative.

I would LOVE to engage with reader conundrums and questions regarding development, behavior, and parenting. Go to my contact page and send me your queries. Any stories or answers I share on the blog will be 100% anonymous.
